Biography

I am an artist and a teacher. I am passionate about the arts in education and want to contribute anything I can towards helping others use art, feel more comfortable and confident with art, and make sure that kids have access to art everyday. There has been so much focus on reading, writing and math in the last decade –throughout my teaching career anyway, and all too often, the arts are framed as a nice bonus if there is time, rather than a fundamental. Not all cultures see it this way. Visual literacy; creative literacy is part of being a creative adaptive person. We live in a rapidly evolving world, and these skills seem pretty fundamental to me. As a teacher, I believe it is my responsibility to use what I do best to help my kids explore, develop and value different forms of intelligence.
